Focal introduces Clear Mg Professional headphones

Focal introduces Clear Mg Professional headphones

By editor 3 weeks ago

Focal, which says it is the world leader in acoustics, continues to innovate and presents Clear Mg Professional, a new workhorse for sound engineers and producers.

The French manufacturer wants to have gone even further with this product than with the first Clear Professional headphones (go to review) and offer an even more impressive performance.

The Clear Mg Professional is said to have been developed with the goal of establishing itself as the leading professional headphone.

The Clear Mg Professional are open-back, circumaural headphones. The “M”-shaped magnesium dome is said to provide outstanding dynamics and is also capable of reproducing even the most minimal details across the frequency spectrum. In terms of mechanics, the design of the headband and earpieces ensures that the headphones fit perfectly across the head for maximum wearing comfort. Latest generation ear cushions made of perforated microfibers provide an extremely open design. The Clear Mg Professional headphones feature new honeycomb grilles. The opening of the external ear cup is even wider, which is said to enhance the feeling of spaciousness with an improved sound image. The internal “M”-shaped grille follows the profile of the speaker driver and is said to provide even more precise treble reproduction.

The new diaphragm, in combination with the frameless copper voice coil with a diameter of 1″ and a height of 0.25″, is said to provide an even more precise sound experience while delivering impressive detail across the spectrum with excellent tonal balance.
The flexibility of the surround is said to provide lightness for more dynamics and punch across the frequency spectrum. The open grille on the inside of the earcup extends the high frequency range and is modeled after the “M” profile of the diaphragm to further reduce unwanted effects. With a response up to 24 kHz, highs are said to be transmitted in a particularly linear manner and transients are left untouched.

Everything is said to be designed for maximum working comfort and aesthetics. The headband design features a constant flex and is said to distribute the weight of the headphones evenly across the skull. The solid aluminum headband is covered in a black, scratch-resistant textured finish. Instead of the traditional vertical swivel mechanism, these have been moved into the headband in favor of even greater comfort it is further stated. This is said to provide an excellent seal, while the red and black design is the perfect blend between classic and modern looks.
The thermoformed carrying case is a perfect fit for the Clear Mg Professional, woven with a smaller pattern and color-coordinated with the headphones. Finally, two low impedance OFC 24 AWG copper cables are included.

Scope of delivery (manufacturer’s specifications):

  • 1 x coiled cable, 5 m
  • 1 x straight cable, 1.2 m, with 3.5 mm mini jack plug
  • Adapter from 3.5 to 6.35 mm jack plug
  • Robust carrying case
  • 1 pair of replacement ear pads

Technical data (manufacturer’s specifications):

  • Type: circumaural open headphones
  • Impedance: 55 Ohm
  • Sensitivity: 104 dB SPL / 1mW @ 1 kHz
  • THD (Total Harmonic Distortion): 0.25% @ 1 kHz / 100 dB SPL
  • Frequency response: 5 Hz to 28kHz
  • Speaker driver: 40 mm magnesium dome with M-profile
  • Weight: 450 g
  • Dimensions: 250 x 240 x 120mm

Voice Technologies VT600D earphones: hygiene and flexibility thanks to replaceable ear tube

Voice Technologies VT600D earphones: hygiene and flexibility thanks to replaceable ear tube

From editor 1 month ago

Working closely with a TV station, Voice Technologies adds the VT600D to the VT600 series, a handset that delivers sound signals to the ear via a flexible spiral tube.

The tubing can be easily changed via a click lock, allowing multiple users, each with their own hearing tubes, to use the same driver module.
Especially in security and broadcast applications, where receivers are often used by several people in rotation, the VT600D is designed to reliably meet current hygiene requirements while maximizing cost efficiency. In addition, the VT600D can be installed very inconspicuously due to the long transparent spiral tube.

VT600D with exchangeable ear tubing

The VT600 earphone from Voice Technologies is said to have already been a staple in the demanding broadcast, theater and security sectors, combining comfortable wearing and good sound with an unobtrusive design. With the VT600D, the Swiss manufacturer is now introducing a special version of the earpiece, which is said to offer even greater flexibility thanks to its exchangeable spiral tube. The driver is mounted on the wearer’s clothing in the neck area, for example, and the high-quality hose, which is almost invisible due to its transparent material, guides the sound signals to the ear. A practical click closure ensures a firm connection to the driver. This design makes it easy to change the earpiece for cleaning purposes, for example, without having to replace the entire earpiece.

Best possible hygiene for broadcast and security

Hygiene has always been a key factor for the health of employees and a reliable, trouble-free workflow. Especially in the security segment and in broadcast applications, several employees often use the same receiver in rotation. With the VT600D from Voice Technologies, each user can be provided with his or her own personal earpiece, including sound guidance tubing, without having to purchase multiple systems for this purpose. This is intended to ensure maximum cost efficiency with precise compliance with even the most demanding hygiene requirements.

Cooperation with a TV station

Through constant and close contact with professional customers from all over the world, the Swiss manufacturer is said to be able to quickly identify practical challenges and respond with customized solutions. Often, custom-made products for a specific customer’s application are ultimately to be turned into series products, which, thanks to their outstanding suitability for everyday use, are to contribute significantly to Voice Technologies’ international success. The VT600D aims to be an example of such fruitful collaboration: The inspiration is said to have come from a television station. Always enthusiastic about the sound quality and reliability of Voice Technologies’ VT600 series, the broadcast professionals wanted to achieve even greater flexibility while complying with the currently particularly strict hygiene regulations. Since the TV station should not have faced this challenge alone, Voice Technologies added the VT600D to its product range.

Extensive accessories for high flexibility

Thanks to the extensive range of accessories supplied, the VT600D is said to be easily adaptable to any individual requirement. The Ear/Accordion earpiece allows discreet use in the ear while providing good shielding from external noise, while the Ear Insert earpiece for the ear canal ensures an even more stable fit and is comfortable to wear. For optimal fit in the ear, there are four sizes each for right or left (S, M, L, XL). The AC400 clip allows the ear tube to be inconspicuously attached to clothing for effective strain relief. Like all Voice Technologies earphones, the VT600D is supplied in a sturdy and waterproof transport box, which is intended to protect the high-quality device securely when not in use, even in tough everyday production environments.

The right product for every requirement

Through permanent contact with international professionals from the theater, broadcasting and security industries, Voice Technologies says it wants to be able to offer the right product for every individual requirement. The VT60M miniature earphone has the driver integrated directly into the earpiece and ensures virtually invisible installation thanks to the ultra-thin, skin-colored lead cable. In contrast, the VT600, which also forms the basis for the VT600D, uses an external transducer and feeds the information into the ear via a tube. The interchangeable earpieces are intended to ensure a high degree of flexibility. The VT600C/H is also available with a coiled cable.

Price and availability
The VT600D earphones from Voice Technologies are available from retailers worldwide through their respective national distributors. The recommended retail price is CHF 183.85 (net price).

Master & Dynamic and basketball player Kevin Durant present new collection

Master & Dynamic and basketball player Kevin Durant present new collection

From editor 1 month ago

New York-based audio brand Master & Dynamic has collaborated with business partner and basketball player Kevin Durant to create a new collection of custom audio products

Inspiration was provided by the sneaker design of the Nike Zoom KD13, which take up the intimate connection between basketball and music. Thus, the “Nike KD13 x Master Dynamic” products are to combine the expertise of both brands: performance, technology and craftsmanship. It is already the second collaboration of Master & Dynamic and the Nike KD13 (we reported), but the first to be available on the market.

“Master & Dynamic was founded and raised in New York, one of the greatest basketball cities in the world, known for its fighting spirit, pride and perfection. So, to coincide with Kevin Durant’s return to the court with the Brooklyn Nets in our hometown, we’re thrilled to have created an expanded limited edition of bold earbuds and headphones inspired by the design of the Nike KD13, taking the intersection of basketball and music to a new level. Welcome back KD.” – Jonathan Levine, CEO and Founder of Master & Dynamic.

The limited products include five color variants of the MH40 Wireless Headphones (for review) as well as five different variants of the MW07 Plus True Wireless Earphones (for review). The MH40 Wireless Headphones feature Bluetooth 5.0 and are made of high-quality materials such as aluminum, lambskin and coated linen fabric. The MW07 Plus True Wireless Earphones are made of handcrafted acetate and housed in a stainless steel charging case that provides a total of 40 hours of playback time.

Each of the five signature colorways is inspired by a different pair of Nike KD13 sneakers, and each represents a different aspect of Kevin Durant’s musical tastes. The psychedelic-inspired “Easy Money Snipers” pattern, the reggae “Sly Servants” design and the grunge-inspired “Slim Reaper Experience” colorway, are said to reflect the genres most often played by the NBA superstar. The high-energy “Hype” design and diffused “Chill” pattern are meant to represent the playlists Kevin uses to get pumped up before heading out on the court and unwind after a busy season.

The limited edition earphones and headphones are available now exclusively at www.masterdynamic.eu at a price of €249 for the MH40 Wireless and €299 for the MW07 Plus.

Inspired by space: Master & Dynamic and Paris Saint-Germain unveil futuristic headphone collection

Inspired by space: Master & Dynamic and Paris Saint-Germain unveil futuristic headphone collection

By editor 2 weeks ago

The new limited edition MH40 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones and MW07 Plus True Wireless Earphones reflect the fourth and new jersey design of the legendary soccer club.

New York-based premium audio brand Master & Dynamic has collaborated with world-famous soccer club Paris Saint-Germain on a collection of new headphones.

“At Master & Dynamic, we constantly strive to innovate. In doing so, we always try to take our products and our sound to the next level. We are also inspired by the constant evolution and pioneering spirit of Paris Saint-Germain. Therefore, we are honored to work with one of the most talented and dedicated teams in the world on two new sound tools,” said Jonathan Levine, founder and CEO of Master & Dynamic.

The futuristic collection is said to have been designed to match the space-inspired design of Paris Saint-Germain’s fourth jersey. It is meant to visualize the new “dimension” into which the club is evolving. Thus, the over-ear headphones visualize the Milky Way, our galaxy in the colors “Hyper Pink” as well as “Psychic Purple” and the in-ear headphones a space-like character with dark “Black Quartz Acetate” and a “Purple Galaxy” stainless steel case.

“Whether we listen to it throughout the day or not, at home or while working out, music is part of our everyday life. More important than ever, given the current situation, are therefore wearing comfort and sound quality for our acoustic experience. Master & Dynamic has created a name for itself within a very small group of brands. They know how to combine the design of a product with advanced sound that reminds me of the leap from DVD to Blu Ray!” said Fabiene Allegre, Chief Brand Diversification Officer at Paris Saint-Germain.

The limited edition products include the MH40 Wireless Headphones (review) and the MW07 Plus True Wireless Earphones (review).

The limited edition earphones and headphones are available now exclusively at www.masterdynamic.eu, the Paris Saint-Germain estore and the club’s stores at a price of 249 euros for the MH40 Wireless and 299 euros for the MW07 Plus.

Dan Clark Audio introduces Aeon 2 Noire

Dan Clark Audio introduces Aeon 2 Noire

Dan Clark Audio is now shipping a new closed-back variant of the Aeon headphone line.

The Aeon 2 Noire in the attractive black high-gloss design is based on the model Aeon 2 Closed, but according to the manufacturer and distributor AudioNext is tonally “more lively” tuned. The ergonomic industrial design of the Aeon series has been retained.

The Aeon 2 Noire uses special internally perforated ear pads that are intended to provide a distinct sound signature with richer bass, livelier mids and airier highs than the classic Aeon 2 Closed.

Unchanged, Dan Clark Audio relies on planar magnetic construction. The Aeon 2 Noire turns out thanks to gimbal folding bracket particularly compact during transport – a bag is also included. At the same time, the weight of 321 grams is extraordinarily low. The Aeon 2 Noire has a recommended retail price of 999 euros.

All models are dustproof and sweat-proof – some models are even waterproof – to function safely and for a long time. There are also numerous innovative features such as pulse measurement, bone sound transmission and cleaning via UV light.

For better visibility in dark environments, the sports headphones feature reflective strips and integrated LEDs (A6606). In addition, operation is said to be particularly easy and intuitive, as the headphones respond to light taps.

Philips A7306 Sports True Wireless (TWS) in-ear headphones

Color: Black. Available: 2nd quarter 2021
Price: 179.99 euros (recommended retail price)

The flagship of the new Philips True Wireless sports headphones is the A7306, which aims to impress with an extremely good fit and high comfort. To match the respective outfit, three wing tips and detachable ear hooks each are available in different colors.

For dedicated athletes, the A7306’s built-in heart rate monitor is said to be especially handy, as it should allow for easy and convenient monitoring of one’s performance thanks to its compatibility with most popular fitness apps.

For durability, the A7306 is water, dust and sweat resistant. After an intense workout, cleaning the headphones is very important, which the A7306 does automatically within 20 seconds in the charging cradle using UV light.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound: New technologies want to provide high-end sound via Bluetooth

Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound: New technologies want to provide high-end sound via Bluetooth

By editor 1 day ago

Qualcomm announces “Snapdragon Sound”, an audio system that is supposed to offer high-quality audio transmission of up to 384 kHz and 32 bits based on the current Snapdragon 888 SoC (System-on-a-Chip).

This should finally make it possible to provide high-end sound completely wirelessly and comprehensively via Bluetooth.

However, as Qualcomm points out, it is not a single chip, but rather an optimized combination of technologies that is also intended to provide seamless, immersive sound in and between devices such as smartphones, wireless earbuds and headsets.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound (QSS) is said to not only provide a more robust and seamless wireless listening experience, but high-resolution 24-bit 96 kHz audio is now possible, and the manufacturer also talks about ultra-low latency, improved pairing, and crystal clear voice quality.

To solve end-to-end latency challenges, Snapdragon Sound is said to support Bluetooth latencies as low as 89 milliseconds (45% less than a leading competitor) for a more immersive gaming and video experience. For those who prefer to listen directly from the mobile device, Snapdragon Sound includes Qualcomm Aqstic DAC, which supports formats up to 384 kHz/32-bit PCM and DSD with ultra-low THD+N.

“The human ear is very sensitive to interference, latency […] that is common when streaming music, video conferencing or gaming over wireless connections. By focusing on end-to-end, we aim to deliver innovations that solve common consumer problems across virtually all audio interaction points,” said James Chapman, vice president and general manager, Voice, Music and Wearables, Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd

The smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi and Audio-Technica are the first to “venture” into the new technology:

“Xiaomi is excited to be the first manufacturer to bring Snapdragon Sound to its devices. Snapdragon Sound will bring a new, high-quality, seamless and low-latency audio experience to our customers everywhere, delivering better sound for voice calls, video conferencing, gaming and/or music listening. Snapdragon Sound has industry-leading capabilities to fully optimize the smartphone and earphones to deliver great sound,” said Lei Zhang, vice president of Mi Smartphone and general manager of hardware R&D, Xiaomi.

“For decades, Audio-Technica has been at the forefront of the premium sound movement. We are proud to be working with Qualcomm Technologies to solve some of the connectivity and latency challenges for next-generation wireless audio, and they are uniquely positioned to help us do so. We believe Snapdragon Sound brings us closer to our shared vision of delivering quality wired audio wirelessly, and we are excited to be one of the first manufacturers to bring our products to consumers,” said Kotaro Narihara, Director, General Manager of Marketing Headquarters, Audio-Technica.

The Snapdragon Sound playlist.
In addition, the company unveiled a cross-genre Amazon Music HD playlist designed to demonstrate the superior sound quality of Snapdragon Sound. This playlist includes the brand new Amazon Original song “Real Love Takes Time” from producer/musician St. Panther, Amazon Original tracks from Allie X and You Me At Six, recently remastered recordings from The Clash, and new tracks from Celeste, Arlo Parks and others.

“We believe that listening to high-quality audio helps consumers fall back in love with their favorite music and artists. That’s why we’re always excited about new developments that make it easier to experience HD and Ultra HD audio. We’re thrilled to partner with Qualcomm Technologies to present the Snapdragon Sound playlist, which includes a beautiful new Amazon Original by St. Panther that can be heard in Ultra HD on Snapdragon Sound-optimized devices.”

Devices that support Snapdragon Sound are expected to be available later this year. Once available, consumers can look for the Snapdragon Sound badge on optimized devices to identify phones, earbuds and headphones, and over time, other devices such as PCs, watches and XR glasses that are designed to provide the full benefit of these advanced audio features.

Acoustic treatment is applied in the earcups to avoid resonance and this is said to achieve uncompromised audio quality: The sound is said to be precise, pure and characterized by a beautiful depth in the bass response.

Celestee also aims to impress with its new Navy Blue and Soft Copper color tones. The selected noble materials, such as the semi-aniline leather on the ear pads, earpiece and earcups complete the design of the headphones and want to make it a distinctly aesthetic product. The geometry of the aluminum earpiece adapts precisely to the shape of the head and is said to have the optimal clamping force for even more wearing comfort.

The Celestee is a closed-back, circumaural headphone with 40mm aluminum/magnesium electrodynamic full-range drivers. These are said to offer exceptional dynamic range and extended linear frequency response at 23 kHz. Sound reproduction is said to be exceptionally accurate. The speakers’ “M” profile inverse dome and their larger dispersion area are said to enhance the purity of the sound.

Celestee is a pair of headphones for both home and on-the-go use. Due to its low impedance (35 ohms), it can be easily connected to a portable device.

Included with Celestee are:

  • Hardcase in the colors of the headphones. With thermoformed molded imprint of the headphones. You can safely transport Celestee in this case.
