L-Acoustics and JH Audio present in-ear monitoring headphones

L-Acoustics and JH Audio present in-ear monitoring headphones

By Editor 4 months ago

With the Contour XO in-ear monitoring headphones – developed in collaboration with JH Audio – L-Acoustics presents its first product in the personal audio market segment.

The Contour XO are said to be the result of the coming together of two pro audio icons: Jerry Harvey and Dr. Christian Heil – two pioneers of technologies that changed the pro audio industry forever: Multi-driver in-ear monitoring systems and the modern live sound PA based on the L-Acoustics Line Source Array.

Now, Harvey and Heil have combined the forces of their R&D teams to reproduce the characteristic frequency contour of the renowned L-Acoustics sound for the first time in a high-quality, ten-driver in-ear monitoring system, setting a new IEM standard. Designed to reproduce the nuances, emotions and impact of live music, L-Acoustics professional sound systems have their own “sound signature.” Considered the benchmark for live concerts and the performing arts field, it is natural, dynamic, open and consistent. Contour XO now offers this sound signature for the first time in the reference IEM for stage, mixing console, studio or on the road.

In addition, the development of Contour XO supports the upcoming release of new binaural, object-based L-ISA mixing software tools currently in beta testing with select audio professionals.

Designed from the ground up, the universal in-ear monitoring headphones are said to put listeners right in the middle of the music with their ten balanced-armature drivers (4x low, 2x mid, 4x high) and a 3-way crossover. In addition to the low frequency response, which can be boosted by up to 15 dB as needed, artists, musicians, sound professionals and audiophiles will especially appreciate the unique care and attention to detail of the Contour XO limited edition premium in-ear audio solution continues to say.

The Contour XO are available now through the L-Acoustics eStore. In addition to standard fits, customers can also get a custom fit and experience L-Acoustics’ legendary sound signature as part of an innovative custom package. The price for the standard model is €1,620 including VAT. The customized Contour XO are available for an additional €340 plus VAT.

Violectric DHA V380 introduced: High-quality headphone amplifier with DA conversion and 32-bit resampling.

Violectric DHA V380 introduced: High-quality headphone amplifier with DA conversion and 32-bit resampling.

By Editor 4 months ago

Violectric introduces the DHA V380, a powerful control center consisting of a DA converter, reclocker, preamplifier and headphone amp.

As with the reference device DHA V590, digital input signals are simply fed to the device via RCA, optical connection or USB, processed via 32-bit resampling and played out in analog via AKM 4490 converters – the DHA V380 also copes with up to 384 kHz and DSD-over-PCM.

On the front panel, the analog and digital inputs can be selected with toggle switches. An Alps knob controls the volume for the connected headphones. No matter which headphones are to be connected to the DHA V380, the level can be perfectly adjusted to the respective impedance and sensitivity with the integrated pre-gain circuit. The audio ensemble is rounded off with a high-quality housing and a variety of other connection options that discerning listeners can count on.

Converter and headphone amplifier: an audiophile ensemble.

The Violectric DHA V380 is an audiophile monitoring system consisting of a converter with resampler/reclocker that virtually eliminates jitter. Together with a wide range of connectivity and associated switching options, the unit becomes the hub of a world-class audio setup. The Violectric DHA V380 outputs the acquired signal to multiple headphones: one true balanced and two unbalanced connectors are provided on the front panel for this purpose. To ensure that each headphone variant can be operated optimally, the pre-gain setting for the headphones is located on the back, which allows the level to be adjusted precisely to the transducers. Next to the large volume control and the headphone connections, the solid toggle switches for source selection, output switching and for activating resampling are located on the front.

Signals of the highest quality
For the transmission of analog signals, the Violectric DHA V380 uses two 32-bit AKM 4490 DACs in dual-mono configuration. The converter accepts digital audio signals in a wide variety of formats, from PCM at up to 384 kHz as well as DSD-over-PCM (DoP). For optimal sound results, the V380 offers the option of additional processing of the digital signal. The 32-bit resampler/reclocker draws its operating frequencies from a precise clock and virtually eliminates any jitter, resulting in a particularly fine resolution without artifacts.

First-class workmanship, extensive range of connections

It is the diverse choice of connections that makes the Violectric DHA V380 a particularly versatile headphone amp and converter. On the digital side, there is a coaxial jack, an optical connector, and the USB connector for PCM and DSD. In addition, two analog sound sources can be connected via RCA jacks, with the respective inputs and outputs easily selected via toggle switches on the front panel. In addition to the front-panel headphone jacks, the multifunction device also offers a balanced and an unbalanced line output, which can be switched before or after the volume control.

Exquisite components for exquisite sound

In order to implement and reliably guarantee Violectric’s accustomed sound fidelity, only selected components are to be used in the DHA V380. Thus, the audio signal is translated into the analog world by the two AKM 4490 converters. An Alps RK 27 in V200 technology with eight transistors per channel for unbalanced headphones or 16 transistors per channel for balanced headphones brings it to the right level. Additional circuits protect the unit and the headphones from DC current or overload and delay the power-up process to protect the headphones. All these technical features are hidden in a discreet black metal case with a sturdy six-millimeter-thick front panel.

Prices and availability

The Violectric DHA V380 is distributed exclusively by cma audio and is available immediately. The recommended retail price is 2,199.00 euros including VAT.

Teufel SUPREME ON: New on-ear presented in six colors

Teufel SUPREME ON: New on-ear presented in six colors

By Editor 4 months ago

Headphones have become an indispensable part of our everyday life.

Teufel from Berlin also knows this and is sending a new on-ear in six different colors into the race with the SUPREME ON just in time for Christmas.

The SUPREME ON aims to combine powerful sound with modern design, high material quality, best wearing comfort and functions suitable for everyday use.

Features (manufacturer specifications):

  • ear-cushioned and high-quality processed Bluetooth headphones with linear HD driver and effective external sound attenuation.
  • Bluetooth with apt-X® and AAC for music streaming in CD-like quality from Spotify, Deezer, Youtube, Apple Music and Co.
  • Handsfree with two microphones for wireless calling, Skyping, Facetime, voice control via Google/Siri in high sound quality
  • ShareMe function: connect two SUPREME ON wirelessly with one source
  • Joystick for music control (play/pause, volume, track skip)
  • Auto-Play: starts playback as soon as the headphones are put on and pauses when they are taken off
  • Approximately 20 hours of battery life at medium volume
  • Linear HD drivers with neodymium magnets for precise highs and powerful kick bass
  • stable headband made of spring steel, large, soft ear pads, low contact pressure, suitable for long listening sessions and spectacle wearers, foldable for transportation

  • Available immediately in Night Black, Moon Gray, Pale Gold, Sand White, Ivy Green and Space Blue at a price of 149.99 euros* in the webshop.

Beautiful (and) practical
Teufel’s new SUPREME ON aims to make a strong statement with its six colors, thoughtful design elements and high-quality materials. The top of the steel spring headband is covered in coarse-mesh fabric. At the same time, the ultra-soft head and ear pads are supposed to be elegant and practical. The latter are said to not only provide “I’ll keep this one on right away” wearing comfort even for glasses wearers, but also effectively shield against outside noise. With its retractable ear cups, the SUPREME ON can also be compactly stored, for example in the included carrying pouch.

Can do a lot – especially sound good
The SUPREME ON only needs to refuel its integrated battery after about 20 hours of playtime at medium volume via the included USB-C cable. Until then, it wants to spoil you with detailed, powerful sound with precise highs and strong kick bass. On the bottom of the right ear cup is the easy-to-touch joystick control, which can be used to trigger both playback and the respective voice assistant. The joystick is also used to answer and end calls. Two integrated microphones are supposed to ensure optimal intelligibility during phone calls. The free Teufel Headphones app for Android and iOS offers an equalizer and the ShareMe function, with which two SUPREME ON can be paired and synchronously play back the sound of the same source. Perfect for enjoying the same music together with another person.

Price, scope of delivery and availability
As of now, the Teufel SUPREME ON is available for order in the color variants Night Black, Moon Gray, Pale Gold, Sand White, Ivy Green and Space Blue in the webshop on www.teufel.de (partner link*) at a price of 149.99 euros**.

Razer Kaira Pro unveiled – the new XBOX and Cloud gaming headset

Razer Kaira Pro unveiled – the new XBOX and Cloud gaming headset

By Editor 4 months ago

The “Kaira Pro Designed for Xbox” introduces Razer’s latest innovative audio technologies on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass – for a high-quality cross-platform listening experience on multiple devices, no matter where or how you play.

On board are Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers, HyperClear Supercardioid microphone, and both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity – so the Kaira Pro aims to deliver stunning audio quality and clear voice communication – both on Xbox Series X|S and cloud gaming.

Gamers have access to over 100 games on Xbox consoles, PCs, and – thanks to increasingly popular cloud gaming – Android devices thanks to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Due to a lack of cross-platform compatibility, gamers have been forced to use different headsets for their devices, compromising on features and performance. With the Razer Kaira Pro, gamers should enjoy the highest performance and all features with just one headset on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Android smartphones and tablets; for powerful, immersive sound and crackle-free communication – whether they’re playing at home or on the go.

“With gamers now able to play their favorite games anywhere and everywhere they want, the demand for a powerful multi-platform headset is greater than ever,” said Alvin Cheung, senior vice president of Razer’s Peripherals Business Unit. “With the Kaira Pro, gamers now get a headset for home use on their Xbox Series X|S and PC that is also perfect for gaming on Android smartphones and tablets. By pairing the Kaira Pro with a Razer Kishi and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, gamers take the full console experience with them wherever they go.”

Next Generation Xbox Mobile Gaming
Designed for multi-device compatibility, the Kaira Pro connects to a wide range of platforms and devices. Via Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth 5.0, the Kaira Pro connects to the new Xbox Series X|S without an additional dongle, while Windows 10 PCs and Android smartphones and tablets connect via Bluetooth 5.0.

Thanks to the dual-microphone design, the Kaira Pro features a detachable Razer HyperClear Supercardioid microphone for crystal-clear voice quality. On the go, the microphone can be detached and seamlessly switched to the headset’s built-in mobile microphone – keeping the Kaira Pro’s design to the bare essentials while remaining lightweight.

Multiple award-winning audio technology
The Kaira Pro introduces Razer’s latest audio technologies to the Xbox Series X|S. The Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers, introduced in the multi-award winning Razer BlackShark V2 (review), are said to provide brighter and clearer audio with individually tuned frequency responses in the low, mid and high ranges for crisp highs, rich mids and powerful bass to ensure an immersive audio experience. Using the EQ preset button, Xbox gamers toggle through equalizer presets, such as FPS mode for better enemy step location or Bass mode for more powerful game sound.

With the Razer HyperClear Supercardioid microphone, the Razer Kaira Pro aims to deliver ultra-clear voice quality for perfect team communication even during the most heated battles: With improved voice isolation designed to reject more ambient noise from the back and sides, increased sensitivity for better low-frequency response, an optimized housing, and precise voice pickup.

Ultimate comfort on the couch and on the go
Designed for long gaming sessions, the Kaira Pro utilizes ultra-soft, breathable memory foam with ear cushions that minimize heat buildup and sweating. A soft, well-padded headband on the lightweight stainless steel frame ensures a flexible and extremely durable design.

The Kaira Pro Designed for Xbox is said to be the ultimate audio solution for next-generation Xbox gaming. Whether you play your favorite games on Xbox Series X|S or prefer to play on your Android devices via cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the Kaira Pro is said to always provide the best sound experience and crystal clear chat communication in any situation.

Etymotic introduces new wireless versions of its ER2XR, ER3XR and ER4XR IEM models

Etymotic introduces new wireless versions of its ER2XR, ER3XR and ER4XR IEM models

KS Distribution GmbH announces that Etymotic has launched a new range of Bluetooth wireless products:

New are the Etymotion Bluetooth cable and wireless versions of the IEM models ER2XR, ER3XR (for review) and ER4XR (for review).

The Etymotic Etymotion BT Bluetooth Cable
The Etymotion BT from Etymotic is said to be both an evolution of the Etymotic brand and an evolution of Bluetooth cable modules. Using the latest Qualcomm chipset, the Etymotion BT supports AptX, AptX HD and AptX LL, allowing audio to be transmitted at 24-bit/48 kHz resolution without loss.

The Etymotion BT is the first device of its kind to feature a dedicated DAC and headphone amplifier. The use of an AKM AK4331 amplifier with Velvet Sound technology is said to be far superior to Qualcomm’s built-in solutions, giving the Etymotion BT an edge over the competition in terms of sound quality and performance.

This cable is said to be designed for use with the latest Etymotic ER series earphones, but will also work with many other earphones that have MMCX connectors.

Etymotion BT – RRP €199.95

  • Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX, aptX HD, aptX LL

Etymotic ER2XR-BT – Etymotion BT Bluetooth cable included.
The ER2XR is said to deliver impressive bass response while maintaining Etymotic’s renowned midrange and treble clarity. Like all models in the ER in-ear series, it offers up to 35 dB of isolation when used with the included earpieces. Details in the music should thus be able to be perceived without having to increase the volume to compensate for ambient noise. The ER2XR’s high-performance dynamic drivers meet the in-ear monitoring needs of musicians – but are also intended to appeal to casual listeners who want a little more bass presence.

Etymotic ER2XR-BT – RRP €249.94

  • Driver: dynamic high power driver

  • Noise Isolation: 35dB – 42dB
  • Impedance: 15Ω
  • Sensitivity: 96dB @ 1kHz
  • Maximum sound pressure level (SPL): 120dB
  • Cable: interchangeable, 1.2m

Etymotic ER3XR-BT – Etymotion BT Bluetooth cable included.
The Etymotic ER3XR with extended frequency response have been tuned for precise reproduction of midrange and treble with a slightly boosted low frequency. For this purpose, the ER3XR uses only one high-performance balanced-armature driver per side.

Etymotic ER3XR-BT – RRP €299.95

  • Driver: Balanced-Armature high power driver
  • Frequency response: 20Hz – 16kHz
  • Noise Isolation: 35dB – 42dB
  • Impedance: 22Ω
  • Sensitivity: 102dB @ 1kHz

Etymotic ER4XR-BT – Etymotion BT Bluetooth cable included.
The ER4XR is said to be the in-ear headphone for music lovers and hi-fi enthusiasts who want uncompromised midrange and treble accuracy, but need a little extra presence in the low end. The flagship ER Series is constructed of precision-engineered, anodized and laser-etched aluminum enclosures and features user-replaceable, detachable cables. Thanks to Etymotic’s unique Balanced-Armature drivers, the ER4XR is said to deliver uncompromised sound quality with a perfectly tuned extra nuance in the low end.

Etymotic ER4XR-BT – RRP €459.95

  • Driver: Balanced-Armature high power driver
  • Frequency response: 20Hz – 16kHz
  • Noise Isolation: 35dB – 42dB

Comply earpieces for Apple AirPods Pro presented

Comply earpieces for Apple AirPods Pro presented

By Editor 4 months ago

The US earpiece specialist Hearing Components now also has Comply earpieces for the popular Apple AirPods Pro (review) in its range.

Thanks to Memory Foam, the new earpieces are said to fit perfectly and individually to the user’s ears.

They are available in a pack of three, optionally in sizes S, M and L, as well as in a mixed pack with one pair of each size.

The advantages are obvious: greatly increased wearing comfort, even and especially over a longer period of time; the active noise cancellation of the AirPods Pro is supplemented by an extremely effective mechanical seal to the outside; once the memory foam has unfolded, the earpieces ensure an absolutely secure fit of the AirPods Pro; and on top of that, they also protect the Apple earphones from dust and other debris.

The Comply ear molds for AirPods Pro can be conveniently slipped on with just a flick of the wrist. Also, and most importantly, they don’t need to be removed to charge the AirPods Pro, as they easily fit inside the charging case as well.

The new Comply earpieces for AirPods Pro will be available at retailers from the beginning of November for EUR 28.99 (recommended retail price incl. 16% VAT).

Despite the crisis, Bavaria as a startup location is catching up strongly and, according to the current EY Startup Barometer, will be able to quadruple its investment volume in the first half of 2020 alone.

Now, Munich-based newcomer Kekz has also secured a well-known investor in the form of Peter Maffay, who, together with founders Carl Taylor and Adin Mumma, wants to redefine the traveltainment market for children.

The wireless headphone system gives kids full control of their favorite music and audiobooks on the go – independent of their parents’ cell phones and with no distractions, no screen and no external audio source.

“Kekz was inspired by our own everyday lives with children,” explains Carl Taylor, founder of Kekz. “We are all the more proud to have Peter Maffay on board, not only a strategically strong partner, but someone with decades of experience, countless successes and a great passion for children’s entertainment.” Adin Mumma, second founder of Kekz, continues, “We also want children’s entertainment for our children that they can control themselves. With Kekz, we have found the perfect solution for travel entertainment, which we first want to make available to families in German-speaking countries. For this, we couldn’t imagine a better partner at our side.”

Peter Maffay: “Kekz solves a problem that is probably familiar to every family traveling with children. The idea of a distraction-free entertainment option that is almost reminiscent of analog times immediately excited us. I am very much looking forward to working with Carl and Adin.”

Series production of the Kekz headphones is scheduled to start in early 2021, with a market launch planned for spring 2021. Interested parties can now register as beta testers.

About the founders:
Carl Taylor has been responsible for brand and media collaborations at Sony Music Entertainment for the past few years. As a product manager, he has already accompanied bands such as Die Fantastischen Vier, Silbermond, Clueso and Joe Cocker on their way in the past. The business administration graduate and passionate marathon runner lives with his family near Munich.

Adin Mumma is an American industrial designer and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in manufacturing for international brands and retailers. Many of his award-winning designs can be seen at major retailers and museums. Adin’s work is both whimsical and minimalist, creatively challenging the status quo. He has since settled with his family in Munich, where he founded his design firm Muemma GmbH in 2014.

About Kekz:
Munich-based startup Kekz is revolutionizing the way kids consume their favorite audio content on the go with its wireless children’s headphone system. The traveltainment device relies on intuitive operation to give preschoolers self-directed control of music and audiobooks – without distractions, screen time or data transfer. With simple plug-and-play mechanics, Kekze chips attach via magnets to the outside of the ear cup to start audio playback. Kekz was founded by Carl Taylor and Adin Mumma in Munich in 2020 and won the German Design Award 2021.

Ergonomically elegant: RHA introduces TrueControl ANC

Ergonomically elegant: RHA introduces TrueControl ANC

By Editor 4 months ago

With the TrueControl ANC, RHA expands its headphone portfolio with a new True Wireless in-ear that comes with active noise cancellation, 20 hours of battery life and aptX codec.

In addition, users can use the new RHA Connect app to customize their listening experience.

ANC
Whether it’s the traffic outside your home office, your co-workers’ PC keyboards, or the roar of an airplane engine, RHA’s active noise cancellation shuts out the outside world. The TrueControl use a passive noise cancellation design and ANC technology to eliminate outside noise. External microphones pick up the world around you, then suppress those sounds with anti-noise.

Sound
RHA is said to have designed the TrueControl to produce deep and detailed tones at any volume. The EQ is also said to have been carefully tuned so that your music – even with ANC on – should sound immersive and natural.

You can also use the RHA Connect app to adjust the earphones’ EQ to your personal taste.

Adjustable noise reduction
Need to keep up with notifications, sounds, and conversations around you? Then switch between ANC and ambient modes at will. The level of ambient noise you let in is fully adjustable, so you should be able to tailor the ANC to where you are.

If you hold down the left earpiece, you can activate Quick Aware: This instantly pauses playback and turns on full Ambient mode – just release to return to ANC.

Perfect fit
The natural contours of the TrueControl are said to provide very good wearing comfort and high passive noise cancellation by following the natural shape of our ears. The TrueControl come with seven pairs of RHA silicone and three pairs of Comply Foam ear tips for a perfect, molded fit.

Stay connected
Personalize your earphones even further with the dedicated RHA Connect app for iOS and Android: Customize button controls, change EQ balance, switch languages, update firmware – and even find your earbuds if they get lost.

You can also access all of your digital assistant’s features with a single press of the right earbud.

Run times
With five hours per charge – including ANC – the TrueControl want to be made for long playlists and Netflix binges. The case is then said to offer another 15 hours – with fast charging. You can still charge the charging case of the in-ears via USB-C or Qi.
