Sennheiser IE 300: inspired by professional in-ear monitoring headphones

Sennheiser IE 300: inspired by professional in-ear monitoring headphones

By Editor 2 months ago

It’s all in the details: Sennheiser’s new IE 300 earphones want to be made to deliver nuanced, natural sound on the go.

At the heart of the earphones is said to be an improved 7mm Extra Wide Band (XWB) transducer that delivers warm sound and detailed resolution. The IE 300’s design was inspired by professional in-ear monitoring earphones to ensure a secure fit and hours of comfort, it adds.

Passionate music lovers want a premium listening experience and not just at home, but anywhere. Sennheiser’s new IE 300, said to have been designed and manufactured in Germany, is said to feature an improved version of the renowned 7mm XWB (Extra Wide Band) transducer for superior quality with warm sound and detailed resolution. Each component is said to have been carefully tuned to refine the listening experience down to the smallest detail: the novel polymer blend diaphragm film is said to minimize self-resonance and THD (THD: 0.08% at 1 kHz, 94 dB), while the acoustic back volume is said to prevent reflections in the cabinet. A Helmholtz resonator chamber is also said to suppress masking resonances in the ear canal for clear treble reproduction. With a frequency response of 6 Hz – 20 kHz, the IE 300 wants clear highs and transparent midrange reproduction for especially low-distortion vocal reproduction.

“When you have a passion for good sound, the details matter. We have carefully designed the IE 300 to reproduce every nuance in music,” said Jermo Köhnke, product manager at Sennheiser. “The IE 300 is designed as an everyday companion that delivers outstanding audio quality regardless of the environment.”

Comfort and listening experience in harmony
The IE 300 is said to offer exceptional durability and combine comfort with a design inspired by professional in-ear monitoring headphones. Its ergonomic features include a customizable, flexible cable management system and silicone and memory foam earmolds in three sizes (S/M/L). This ensures not only a secure fit and excellent wearing comfort for several hours of listening pleasure, but also optimal noise isolation – so music lovers can hear every detail of their favorite songs even in busy environments or on the go.

Years of listening pleasure
The IE 300’s included 3.5mm cable is claimed to be reinforced with para-aramid for superior stability – so it can withstand thousands of bending cycles and be flexibly replaced. For added strain relief, the high-quality, gold-plated Fidelity+ MMCX connector sits in a recessed, 4.8mm-wide socket in the housing. Balanced cables with 2.5mm or 4.4 plugs are also available as optional accessories. A carrying case for safe and convenient storage is included.

Technical data (manufacturer’s specifications):

  • Impedance: 16 Ω
  • Transducer principle: Single Dynamic Driver, Pressure Chamber
  • Weight without cable: 4 g
  • Sound pressure level at 1 kHz: 124 dB (1 kHz / 1 Vrms)
  • Coupling to the ear: In-ear
  • Cable length: 125 cm
  • Audio transmission range: 6 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Distortion factor at 1 kHz: < 0.08 % (1 kHz, 94 dB SPL)

In Germany, the Sennheiser IE 300 are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2021 for EUR 299 (RRP).

V-MODA presents M-200 ANC – first own Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation

V-MODA presents M-200 ANC – first own Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation

By Editor 2 months ago

V-MODA announces the availability of the M-200 ANC, its first Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation that combine the familiar V-MODA sound with hybrid active noise cancellation.

With the M-200 ANC, V-MODA’s personalization options are set to reach a new level. This is ensured by the new V-MODA app, which allows users to adjust the strength of the noise cancellation and adapt the sound to their own lifestyle via EQ presets.

“This new development marks the beginning of V-MODA’s future. The M-200 ANC represents a new generation of headphones unlike anything we’ve ever done before,” explained Luca Bolognesi, Vice President in Marketing Technology at V-MODA. “We’re excited to present our customers with a completely new type of ANC headphones that allow them to fully customize their own listening experience, the housing as well as the design of the headphones.”

The M-200 ANC embodies V-MODA’s commitment to creating a completely customized listening experience. In combination with the V-MODA app, users can control their sound as if they were directly in the studio: bass, midrange and treble can be individually adjusted. Six EQ presets optimized for different listening situations are available via the app EQ. If necessary, users can adjust the presets or create completely custom sound signatures. The ten noise-cancellation levels are also controlled via the app, neutralizing any outside interference for a completely engaging listening experience with their self-created sound.

With the interchangeable covers, users can customize the design of the M-200 ANC headphones to suit their individual needs. Starting with six striking color options, the covers can even be laser engraved with the user’s own logo or design, or printed in full color.

With 20 hours of playback with noise cancellation activated and intuitive operation, the M-200 ANC aims to be the ideal all-day partner. In addition, the headphones have smart features such as “Voice In,” which reduces playback volume and pauses ANC when the left ear cup is covered. This increases the comfort factor and allows the listener to fully concentrate on the moment.

V-MODA is fully committed to developing holistic products and places equal emphasis on sound, creative features, quality craftsmanship and distinctive design. In addition to the soft feel with an upper made of high-quality pure PU leather, the M-200 ANC also aims to impress with its high durability based on a metal core as well as its flexible headband. For added protection, the M-200 ANC easily folds away in its protective exoskeleton carrying case. This allows it to be safely stored, transported and used whenever needed.

Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro introduced: With HearID 2.0 and three modes for ANC!

Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro introduced: With HearID 2.0 and three modes for ANC!

By Editor 2 months ago

Soundcore by Anker Innovations, introduces the next generation of its Liberty True Wireless earphone line, the Liberty Air 2 Pro, featuring advanced active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency and PureNote driver technology.

In October 2020, the Jabra Elite 85t (review) were launched in Titanium/Black as part of the new ANC range that complements the True Wireless portfolio. Users can now not only enjoy very good call quality, customizable Jabra Advanced ANC and very good sound quality from the Elite 85t, but they can also choose the color that suits them best. Whether glamorous gold / beige, timeless black or elegant gray – the Jabra Elite 85t want to offer the right color for every taste.

The Liberty Air 2 Pro are said to have been designed to sound great even when noise cancellation is enabled. To achieve this, Soundcore engineers developed PureNote driver technology, which uses ten hardened nanosheets to form the 11mm driver in each Earbud, which is said to provide precise sound and clarity at all frequencies. Soundcore then tuned the Earbuds with both ANC on and off to ensure the music always sounds as the artists originally intended.

“In 2019, Soundcore launched the Liberty 2 Pro, the first headphones in the company’s Pro line,” said Rock Gao, general manager, headphones at Soundcore. “The focus then was to bring premium sound to the true-wireless headphone space. Today, we’re introducing our new Liberty Air 2 Pro Earbuds, showcasing a new noise-canceling experience that doesn’t compromise sound in any environment. With a range of customizable elements, from sound profiles to customizable ANC and transparency modes, the Liberty Air 2 Pro allows users to find the best sound for themselves.”

The Liberty Air 2 Pro offer users the ability to switch between three noise-cancellation modes, including Transport Mode, which cuts out low-frequency sounds from planes, trains or city buses; Outdoor Mode, which uses a lower ANC setting but wider bandwidth to block out street noise; and finally, Indoor Mode, which primarily reduces mid-range frequencies to help block out voices typically found in an office or coffee shop.
Additionally, the Liberty Air 2 Pro has a transparency mode with two different settings. Mode 1 is for total transparency, which helps to improve all ambient noise. This is ideal for runners and cyclists who need to hear sounds around them safely on a city street. The second transparency mode focuses on voices to enhance voices in close proximity while reducing background noise. This mode is ideal for users who are waiting for a flight or bus, but still need to hear announcements from a P.A. speaker or flight attendant.

With the updated Soundcore app, the Liberty Air 2 Pro offers users HearID 2.0, the next generation of audio frequency matching. After performing a simple listening test with the earphones, the Liberty Air 2 Pro adjusts the sound for the individual to ensure the best possible listening experience. What’s new in version 2.0 is that users can make changes to these individualized audio settings or choose from one of the preset sound profiles.

OPPO Enco X: New True Wireless In-Ear with Dynaudio Sound!

OPPO Enco X: New True Wireless In-Ear with Dynaudio Sound!

By editor 3 months ago

In collaboration with the well-known hi-fi brand Dynaudio, OPPO developed the OPPO Enco X headphones.

In 2004, even before OPPO developed smartphones, the company produced high-end audio and Blu-ray devices. Now OPPO continues this legacy.

OPPO’s new flagship headset is supposed to deliver professional sound quality in hi-fi stereo format and also features active noise cancellation as well as multi-level noise cancellation management.

The sound quality is based on OPPO’s exclusive DBEE 3.0 acoustic system (Dual-concentric Balance Enhanced Engine), which was previously used in high-end MP3 players and is now being used in OPPO headphones for the first time. This acoustic structure design of balanced cone speakers and dynamic dual speakers is said to ensure that the rich, precise music texture is reproduced in hi-fi quality with depth, rounded frequencies, natural sound, wide sound field and high resolution. It aims to deliver a balanced and detailed sound experience to its users.

Variable noise cancellation for any environment
OPPO is said to have incorporated the latest noise cancellation technology in the Enco-X headphones, ensuring undisturbed listening in a wide range of scenarios. With hybrid ANC technology combined with excellent passive noise cancellation, users are said to be able to adjust the noise cancellation in four different levels according to their needs and situation.

The maximum ANC mode is supposed to make it possible to listen to music even in very loud environments, such as on airplanes or public transportation, without having to turn up the volume. “ANC Regular” has been designed as a new mode for listening to music undisturbed in less noisy environments, such as cafes or offices. Also new is the Transparency mode, which also allows for ambient noise. Users are thus able to continue listening to their sound and, for example, hold a conversation at the same time without having to remove the headphones. The Enco-X headphones also support triple microphone call noise cancellation for phone calls with clear and distinct sound quality. Bluetooth 5.2 provides fast and stable connections up to 10 meters away with low latency.

The headphones, which feature a new 3D-rounded design, are said to be comfortable to wear and connect “as if by themselves” to various compatible devices such as the smartphone and OPPO Watch. They can be operated via touch controls on the sidebar of the headphones to answer calls, switch between songs and adjust the volume. The charging cradle in the elliptical design is enclosed by a metallic frame. Thanks to IP54 protection rating, the Enco X headphones are protected against sweat and splashing water, making them perfect for fitness training in the gym or outdoors.

The headphones can be charged wirelessly and are said to offer up to 4 hours of playtime with one charge or 20 hours with charging cradle.

Features (manufacturer specifications):

  • Headphone type True Wireless
  • Driver / Sensitivity 11 mm dynamic driver / 104 dB @ 1 kHz

Apple introduces AirPods Max: High-end over-ears with adaptive EQ, active noise cancellation and 3D audio

Apple introduces AirPods Max: High-end over-ears with adaptive EQ, active noise cancellation and 3D audio

By editor 3 months ago

The new AirPods Max aim to bring the magic of AirPods to an all-new wireless over-ear design with Hi-Fi audio, active noise cancellation, 3D audio and more.

The new headphones aim to combine a special acoustic design, H1 chips, advanced software and the power of “computational audio” to create a whole new listening experience with adaptive EQ, active noise cancellation, transparency mode and 3D audio.

The AirPods Max come in space gray, silver, sky blue, green and pink. They can be pre-ordered starting today and will be available on December 15.

AirPods are the world’s most popular headphones, prized for their easy setup, incredible sound quality and iconic design. The new AirPods Max bring the excellent features of AirPods to a stunning over-ear design with Hi-Fi audio,” said Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Apple. “The special acoustic design, combined with powerful H1 chips and advanced software, enables AirPods Max to use computational audio for a fantastic listening experience without any wires.”

Special acoustic design
The headband with the air-permeable mesh is said to provide even weight distribution and reduce pressure on the head. The stainless steel headband is said to be sturdy, flexible, comfortable to wear, and adjustable according to head size. The headband extensions are said to extend smoothly and remain in the selected position for the desired fit.

The ear cups are attached to the headband by an all-new mechanism that is said to perfectly distribute weight pressure and also allows each ear cup to be independently adjusted to best fit the contours of the head. The ear cushions are made of acoustic memory foam and effectively seal the ear – very important for an immersive listening experience. The Digital Crown was inspired by the Apple Watch and can be used to control volume and playback functions, answer and end calls or activate Siri.

A whole new listening experience
AirPods Max feature an Apple-designed 40mm dynamic driver that is said to reproduce rich bass, precise mids, and crystal-clear highs so that every note can be heard. Thanks to a unique motor of dual-ring neodymium magnets, total harmonic distortion is said to be less than 1 percent across the audible spectrum, even at maximum volume. AirPods Max feature an Apple H1 chip in each ear cup, offer a special acoustic design and advanced software and computational audio is said to provide the highest quality listening experience. Utilizing all 10 of the chip’s audio cores – which are said to be capable of 9 billion computing operations per second – AirPods Max are said to deliver excellent sound with adaptive EQ, active noise cancellation, transparency mode and 3D audio.

  • Adaptive EQ: AirPods Max use adaptive EQ to adjust the sound for each ear cup. To do this, they measure the sound signal and adjust the low and mid frequencies in real time – aiming to deliver rich, detailed sound.
  • Active Noise Cancellation: AirPods Max deliver immersive sound through active noise cancellation to keep the listening experience front and center. Each ear cup has three outward-facing microphones that detect ambient noise and one inward-facing microphone that monitors sound delivered to the ear. Using computational audio, noise cancellation is said to adjust in real time depending on the fit and movement of the headphones.
  • Transparency Mode: AirPods Max have a transparency mode to listen to music and ambient sounds at the same time. Transparency mode makes everything – even your own voice – sound natural, while audio should be reproduced perfectly. The noise control button lets you easily switch between active noise cancellation and transparency mode.
  • 3D Audio: AirPods Max use 3D Audio with dynamic head tracking to reproduce sound in three dimensions – providing immersive sound like in the cinema with 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos audio. 3D Audio uses the accelerometer and gyro sensors in AirPods Max and iPhone or iPad to track head movement and device motion. It compares the motion data and remapped the sound field so it stays connected to the device even if the user’s head moves.

The magic of AirPods:
The AirPods Max join the existing AirPods family and aim to give you a fantastic listening experience without any wires, for music, phone calls, TV shows and movies, games and interacting with Siri. They’re said to be just as easy to set up with a tap as the AirPods (for review) and AirPods Pro (for review), and automatically connect to any device logged into an iCloud account, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.

The AirPods Max have optical and position sensors and automatically detect when they are put on. By setting them down or even just lifting an ear cup, AirPods Max can pause playback. With AirPods Max, calls and Siri voice commands are said to sound clear and crisp, thanks to beamforming microphones that block out ambient noise to emphasize the voice.

Battery and performance:
The AirPods Max are said to offer up to 20 hours of battery life for Hi-Fi audio, phone calls or movies with active noise cancellation and 3D audio turned on.

The AirPods Max come with a soft, low-profile smart case that puts the AirPods Max on standby. This means they use almost no battery when not in use.

Additional functions

  • The Auto Switch feature allows playback to be passed smoothly between iPhone, iPad, and Mac. When listening to music on the Mac, users can simply answer a call on the iPhone and the AirPods Max will automatically switch.
  • Audio sharing makes it easy to share audio between two pairs of AirPods on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV 4K. Users simply need to hold the AirPods Max up to the device and tap once to connect.
  • Siri can play music, start calls, control volume, get directions and more. With the “Announce Messages with Siri” feature, Siri can even read out new messages.

Prices and availability
AirPods Max are available starting at 597.25 euros including tax and can be ordered now at apple.com/en and in the Apple Store app in the U.S. and more than 25 other countries and regions. AirPods Max will begin shipping on Tuesday, December 15.

AirPods Max require Apple devices running iOS 14.3 or later, iPadOS 14.3 or later, macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later, watchOS 7.2 or later, or tvOS 14.3 or later.

Ultimate gaming with the Final VR3000

Ultimate gaming with the Final VR3000

By editor 3 months ago

Final, the Japanese high-end audio specialist, has announced its first step into the gaming world with the new VR3000 gaming in-ear headphones.

With the rising popularity of high-end gaming equipment, the VR3000 aims to break new ground in delivering the highest audio quality and revolutionizing the gaming experience.

Final has been in the audio industry for over 50 years, but the VR3000 is the first in-ear headphone from Final that is said to have been designed specifically for gaming.

The VR3000 is small and extremely lightweight in design. Its sound is said to impress with accuracy and clarity. Thanks to its in-ear design, it also claims to offer maximum mobility and device compatibility compared to larger, more power-hungry headphones and headsets.

Equipped with an in-line microphone and 3-button control, the VR3000 has a simple plug-and-play design that is said to enable in-game voice chat for a fully immersive gaming experience.

Final believes that gaming headphones should not only portray deep sounds like thunderous effects and bassy rumble. Gamers additionally need a high level of accuracy, clarity and 3D localization to turn the course of a game in their favor and truly get the most out of their gaming experience.

To achieve this, the final VR3000 features a custom 6mm dynamic driver designed to deliver just that sound with exceptional depth, clarity and accuracy.

In doing so, the VR3000 aims to combine its precision-engineered drivers with sound tuning that is said to be based on final’s own extensive research into surround sound. It is said to deliver every detail clearly with accurate localization of direction and distance to help players bring their A-game.

Game makers today invest a large portion of their budgets in sound production, spending time and money on professionally recorded background music – sometimes using full orchestras, original sound effects and dialogue delivered by renowned actors. All of this is intended to help players become fully immersed in the game and captivated by the gameplay.

Final wants to understand the importance of this sound, and so the VR3000 should fully live up to the high manufacturing effort put into today’s games. This is the only way to enjoy true sound.

Technical data & features (manufacturer specifications):

  • Housing: ABS
  • Driver: 6mm dynamic
  • Connection: 3.5mm jack
  • Cable: 120cm long, oxygen-free, with microphone and remote control
  • Sensitivity: 101dB/mW

Tribit QuietPlus 78: Hybrid noise-cancelling wireless headphones unveiled

Tribit QuietPlus 78: Hybrid noise-cancelling wireless headphones unveiled

By editor 3 months ago

The Bluetooth 5.0 headphones offer hybrid and adjustable Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), as well as a transparency mode and up to 30 hours of battery life.

The QuietPlus 78 are equipped with 40-millimeter drivers and aim to provide hi-fi sound with rich bass and clear treble. In addition, Tribit gives its new headphones hybrid and adjustable active noise cancellation. This allows buyers to set the noise cancellation in the intensity levels high or low. If the environment is still to be perceived due to the situation, the ANC technology can also be used to bring the outside world into the earphones via transparency mode.

The headphones are equipped with a powerful battery so that the QuietPlus 78 don’t run out of power so quickly. This is supposed to offer a runtime of up to 30 hours. And even if the battery does run out, a 3.5-millimeter jack cable is included in the scope of delivery. Thus, the QuietPlus 78 can also be used with a cable.

Thanks to the fast and stable Bluetooth 5.0 connection, the mobile device should always remain reliably connected to the QuietPlus 78 – regardless of whether users connect their smartphone or notebook to the headphones, unwanted disconnections are not to be expected. This is because the latest Bluetooth version ensures an even faster and more stable connection with the corresponding end device, which is why there should be no audio dropouts when streaming movies or making phone calls.

With the transparency mode, users only hear what they really want to hear. The technology is said to be quick and easy to activate to start a conversation with someone or to keep an ear open for traffic. This saves users from having to remove their headphones and still be in the middle of the action.

Comfort isn’t something the QuietPlus 78 wants to miss out on, either. That’s because the Overear cushions, as well as the headband, are equipped with memory foam, which should prevent painful pressure points. Thanks to the foldable design and the included carrying bag, the QuietPlus 78 are also easy to stow away when not in use and can be transported easily and safely.
