Avantone Pro Planar: New reference headphone with magnetostatic driver technology introduced

Avantone Pro Planar: New reference headphone with magnetostatic driver technology introduced

By Editor 3 months ago

Avantone Pro has made an outstanding name for itself internationally with its groundbreaking studio tools.

The new Planar studio headphones are intended to continue this tradition in an exemplary manner and, with their magnetostatic driver technology, ensure an unprecedentedly accurate representation of dynamic as well as fine-dynamic relationships and also impress with an exceptionally wide and linear frequency response.

Comfortable ear cushions and a comparatively low weight are supposed to provide outstanding comfort during daily work in the studio.

Planar – the driver technology of the future
Headphones usually work with traditional dynamic cone drivers – and the associated disadvantages. For example, the combination of cone diaphragms with voice coils is comparatively heavy and thus sluggish, which can lead to limited treble reproduction and problematic transient imaging. For this reason, true high-end headphones have for many years used electrostatic drivers, in which a very light, electrically charged metal foil vibrates between two metal plates. However, electrostats also come with some problems: they require a high-voltage source and an extremely potent preamplifier to operate, which are usually included, making the headphones expensive and somewhat inflexible. Planar drivers combine the best of both driver technologies: The foil vibrating between two magnets is equipped with conductive paths through which the audio signal flows. This makes the supply voltage of the electrostat superfluous, so that the planar driver congenially combines the accurate reproduction of the electrostat with the uncomplicated handling of the dynamic transducer.

Avantone Pro Planar: Sound quality redefined
The term planar technology alone is synonymous with outstanding accuracy, impressive detail, well-defined spatiality, perfect timing, and deep and natural bass response. However, these benefits can only be put into practice with meticulous development work. As one of the most experienced monitor manufacturers, Avantone Pro is said to have perfectly coordinated all the individual details of the Planar and created a headphone whose sonic advantages are unparalleled, and not only in its price class. For example, the 70 x 95 mm diaphragms are said to be both exceptionally light and stable, and the magnet units on both sides are said to provide outstanding impulse fidelity. The open ear cups are said to have been optimized in countless listening tests for maximum freedom from resonance, so that they do not impede the diaphragm movements in any way. Powerful neodymium magnets are also said to provide exceptionally high efficiency and powerful reproduction down to the deepest bass basement. The Planar from Avantone Pro is thus said to have all the prerequisites to redefine high-quality headphone sound.

Groundbreaking wearing comfort
Even though Planar headphones are always a bit larger than traditional models, Avantone Pro is not content to compromise on wearing comfort. The Planar’s headband is said to have been optimized along with the ear cups for perfect balance. The spacious, soft ear cushions are said to adapt perfectly to any head shape. In addition, the open design of the Planar from Avantone Pro not only ensures a resonance-free and spatial sound image, but also prevents heat build-up during long listening sessions, so that the new model can be used for many hours without any problems. The developers of Avantone Pro are experienced studio practitioners who know full well that details are also important in the stressful day-to-day production environment: the Planar’s cable can therefore be flexibly attached to either the left or right ear cup, depending on the operating environment. A valuable contribution to ergonomics in the workplace. For easy and safe transport, the Planar comes in a convenient carrying case that also provides space for the cable and other accessories.

Planar from Avantone Pro brings color to the studio
The days when high-quality studio equipment looked gray, sober and boring are long gone. That’s why the Planar from Avantone Pro is not only functional, but also exceptionally well-designed and cuts a fine figure in any environment. And it comes in several colors, as the Planar is available in either elegant black or eye-catching red – the excellent sound quality, however, is the same for both variants.

Prices and availability
The new Planar headphones from Avantone Pro are distributed exclusively by Audiowerk in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and are available on the market immediately. The recommended retail price is €469.00 including VAT.

Cambridge Audio presents Melomania Touch

Cambridge Audio presents Melomania Touch

By Editor 3 months ago

Cambridge Audio presents the Melomania Touch, the latest member of the Melomania family including a completely revised form factor.
Excellent wearing comfort, intuitive touch operation and the smart Melomania App meet up to 50 hours of playback time with the cutting-edge true wireless in-ear headphones from Cambridge Audio. This is how “Great British Sound” becomes mobile.

With the Melomania Touch true-wireless in-ear headphones from Cambridge Audio, music lovers always have their favorite soundtrack with them. Data from over 3,000 ear impressions served as the basis for the development of a perfect fit that flatters every ear, according to the manufacturer. In addition to their special plus in wearing comfort, the in-ear headphones are said to impress with their legendary “Great British Sound” – and in unprecedented sound quality. This is to be ensured by Cambridge Audio’s pioneering Class A/B amplifier technology, which is now to be used for the first time in a true-wireless in-ear. With a total battery life of up to 50 hours, the Melomania Touch should also prove to be a real endurance runner. The mobile sound artists are rounded off by the new Melomania app. It aims to offer a wide range of sound customization options, including specially optimized “Transparency”, “High Performance” and “Low Power” modes, because listening habits are as individual as one’s own musical tastes.

Don’t stop the music: up to 50 hours of “Great British Sound
Unadulterated sound, with nothing added and nothing left out: The “Great British Sound” has been in every single Cambridge Audio product for over 50 years. The Melomania Touch is now intended to make the legendary sound of the traditional British company in a compact format wirelessly mobile. Graphene-coated 7mm drivers are used in the process, which aim to provide an impressive sonority. Thanks to the high-resolution Bluetooth codecs aptX and AAC, no detail is lost during playback. With up to nine hours of continuous playback time, long listening sessions should not be a problem even on the go. The included charging case aims to provide new momentum for the next nine hours of music enjoyment with its additional 41 hours after a short charging stop – making the Melomania Touch independent of the nearest power outlet for up to 50 hours.

Intuitive and cuddly: best wearing comfort with touch operation
During the development of the Melomania Touch at Cambridge Audio’s headquarters in London, the focus was not only on pure sound reproduction, but also on a particularly high level of wearing comfort. Based on over 3,000 ear impressions, a completely new housing is said to have been created, which is said to fit seamlessly to the earcup. As a result, the true-wireless in-ears are said to be quickly forgotten in the ear, leaving only the music to take center stage. A variety of earpieces and ear wings are included in the scope of delivery, guaranteeing an individual fit to a wide range of ears. Maximum comfort is also the top priority when it comes to operation: Intuitive touch gestures are intended to enable playback and volume control as well as answering incoming calls. At the same time, the supported voice assistants Google Assistant and Siri can be activated via touch command for simple control by voice command. The smartphone can thus safely remain in the pocket.

Up to date: Melomania app and latest wireless standards
With the Melomania App, the Melomania Touch gets energetic support on any smartphone. From a charge level indicator for both earphones to uncomplicated firmware updates and the practical “Find my Earphones” function, the app is designed to offer owners of the Melomania Touch real added value. Extensive EQ setting options also allow for customization to one’s listening preferences. Cambridge Audio has equipped the Melomania Touch with the latest wireless technologies: Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0 and the latest Qualcomm chipset, a stable connection should be guaranteed. However, the in-ears do not only want to cut a good figure when playing music, but also want to be a high-quality headset for phone calls thanks to the latest generation microphones. With the innovative “Transparency” mode, ambient noise can also be optionally faded in or out with just a tap of the finger.

Crazy about music: “High Performance” mode for even more sound fidelity
Cambridge Audio stands for a strong passion for music like few other companies. This passion is also reflected in Melomania (“crazy about music”), a fully equipped club for live concerts in the basement of the company’s headquarters in London. It’s no coincidence, then, that the company’s true-wireless in-ear series is also named Melomania. James Johnson-Flint, CEO Cambridge Audio, is pleased to present a sonically powerful premiere with the “High Performance” mode of the Melomania Touch:

“With our new High Performance mode, sound enthusiasts coax the last extra ounce of fidelity out of the already great-sounding Melomania Touch. To achieve this, our development team has integrated the same Class A/B amplifier technology that is used in our multi-award-winning CX Series integrated amplifiers. This is a world first in the in-ear sector. It allows us to achieve a significantly wider soundstage with less noise and lower distortion, for a more immersive sound experience than ever before.”

ESI Audiotechnik announces cooperation with dSONIQ Realphones

ESI Audiotechnik announces cooperation with dSONIQ Realphones

By Editor 3 months ago

Die innovative Technologie bringt Tonstudio-Sound in den ESI-Kopfhörer

Simulating the sound of a high-quality recording studio control room in a pair of headphones – that’s the mission of the company dSONIQ.

The versatile software Realphones (to the test), which can do exactly that, is now available as ESI version, optimally adapted to the headphones eXtra 10. The special: In December, ESI customers can download the software as a free Christmas present.

Recording studio professionals know the problem: A song has to be finished by a deadline, but you are already on the way to the next job. When working in the train or on the plane, headphones are a good alternative, but the problem of altered stereo perception and phase cancellations still remains.

The Realphones software from dSONIQ provides a remedy: It recreates the acoustic environment of the recording studio control room in a headphone and corrects its frequency response. The sound from the headphones thus almost corresponds to that of a perfectly balanced control room with high-quality monitoring speakers.

Mastering to Mix Check: Everything goes with the headphones from now on
With Realphones, headphones become a reliable monitoring tool for mixing tracks – whether on the road or in the studio. And that’s not all: Thanks to the software, a complete mix check can also be performed. It only takes a single mouse click to make the headphones sound as if the sound was coming from hi-fi speakers, as if it were coming from the room next door, or as if you were listening to it in your earpods. The song can thus be completely finished without having to take off the headphones even once.

Realphones ESI Edition is perfectly matched to the eXtra 10 headphones.
Through months of measurement work, developers from Russia have managed to simulate the perfect studio sound in the orange headphones of the German manufacturer ESI. This means that the innovative technology of dSONIQ is now available to all users of the ESI eXtra 10 headphones.

Software as a Christmas present for all eXtra 10 owners

“The music scene has had a tough year,” says ESI CEO Claus Riethmüller. “Maybe we can make one or two customers happy with this at the end of the year.”

The high-quality Realphones ESI Edition is therefore a Christmas gift to customers of the company ESI.

From December 1, owners of eXtra 10 headphones can register for the free download at https://www.esi-audio.de/realphones/.

The promotion applies to all eXtra 10 headphones as well as all U22 XT cosMik sets purchased since market launch.

After installing the Realphones ESI Edition, an update to the full version (with 30% discount) is possible at any time. The full version of Realphones with extended usage options can be purchased at www.dsoniq.com.

By Editor 2 months ago

HARMAN International is kicking off 2021 with “HARMAN ExPLORE,” providing the first glimpse of new products and technologies in headphones and true wireless.

In addition, the new year is marked by the 75th anniversary of the JBL brand, which was founded in 1946 in Los Angeles, California, by James B. Lansing.

JBL is expanding its JBL LIVE headphone series with three new models: the JBL LIVE PRO+ as a TWS option in the trendy stick design, as well as the over-ear model JBL LIVE660NC and the on-ear variant JBL LIVE 460NC will round off the series from the spring. Among other things, they introduce adaptive noise cancelling with Smart Ambient and shine with long-lasting batteries as well as numerous other features.

JBL announces three new headphones, the JBL LIVE PRO+, JBL LIVE 660NC and JBL LIVE 460NC, to complement the successful LIVE series. With one True Wireless model and one each of on-ear and over-ear products, JBL covers all requirements and promises its customers an outstanding listening experience without compromise. Razer announces Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds with THX certification and noise isolation

Razer announces Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds with THX certification and noise isolation

By Editor 3 months ago

Razer’s new THX-certified wireless earbuds with Advanced Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation are said to offer low-latency audio and custom fits for immersive sound and that crucial gaming edge.

As with the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless (review), the Pro model features convenient touch controls and voice assistant compatibility, optimized low-latency Bluetooth connectivity, and extended battery life with the included charging case. A comfortable, secure fit with improved noise isolation is said to be provided by the in-ear design and the use of high-quality memory foam Comply ear tips. The Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds are also IPX4 certified for sweat and splash protection.

“The Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds are the perfect mobile accessory for everyday and mobile gamers who value high-quality audio and a customizable fit,” said John Moore, Head of Sales & Marketing, Growth Peripherals at Razer. “Users enjoy a perfect fit, premium audio quality and uninterrupted low-latency sound for movies, music, gaming, and voice and video calls – all in a compact format that fits in any pocket.”

Advanced hybrid Active Noise Cancellation for undisturbed listening pleasure.
The Hammerhead True Wireless Pro use hybrid ANC to eliminate both external and unwanted internal noise by simultaneously generating opposing sound waves. This is complemented by improved passive noise isolation. Two integrated external (feed-forward) and two integrated internal (feedback) microphones ensure sound is transmitted with crystal-clear quality.

THX Certified Audio
To meet the stringent requirements for THX certification, fine details such as frequency range and response are evaluated, and the unit must be able to reproduce clear, detailed vocals and deep, powerful bass without distortion at high volumes. The certification process also requires a high level of sound isolation, which the Hammerhead True Wireless Pro meet with their in-ear design for a tighter fit. Customized comfort as well as acoustic options are provided by black Comply premium foam ear tips and one of six sets of silicone ear tips in various sizes and materials.

“The Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds, along with the Razer Opus headphones, have earned the gold seal of THX certification,” said Peter Vasay, director of THX certification, THX Ltd. “We evaluate and optimize the headphones to ensure a high-quality sound experience that delivers rich, harmonious audio, clear voices and deep, impactful bass – perfect for music, gaming and movies.”

Wireless sound with low latency
The Razer Hammerhead True Wireless Pro earbuds aim to deliver a wide soundstage for smartphone gaming, movies, and music with their 10mm drivers and 20-20kHz frequency response. With touch-activated gaming mode, the optimized Bluetooth connection reduces latency during gaming to just 60 ms, so users can experience more than 50% faster response time as audio and video are transmitted even more synchronously.

Touch-enabled controls and convenient, intuitive use
The Razer Hammerhead True Wireless Pro’s touch-enabled controls allow users to switch between ANC and Quick-Attention mode, control their music and calls, and activate their smartphone’s voice assistant with just a few touches. Quick Attention mode uses the microphones to allow outside noise, which is useful for impromptu conversation. A mobile app for iOS and Android devices provides access to audio equalizer settings, touch gesture remapping, a unique fit test, and more.

The Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds achieve up to 20 hours of battery life, with four hours of operation after charging the earbuds and up to four recharge cycles with the included USB-C case – perfect for storing and charging when you’re not using your Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds. To wear the new wireless earbuds in style, a protective Razer THS TPU case with carabiner clip is available from Razer.
